In this exhibition, unfolding became a curatorial framework through which two distinct visual languages intersect: Cohen’s dynamic, colour-driven abstraction, and Bookatz’s intimate portraiture. 

Wendy Cohen is a graduate of The National Art School, holding BFA and MFA degrees.  Her abstract practice engages unfolding through layered paint, collage, texture, and chromatic interplay that evokes curiosity and wonderment.

Wendy Lessick Bookatz is an award-winning artist, having received recognition in the Local, Acrylic, and Pastel sections of the Waverley Art Prize. She holds a BMedia from Southern Cross University and studied fine art at the Johannesburg School of Art. Lessick Bookatz’s portraits are evolving presences; her figure paintings unfold and emerge. Some of Wendy’s works tell stories.
