Wendy Lessick Bookatz

Creator of narratives - Visual, textual & aural, on-screen, online & in print.

Fine art - on canvas, board & on paper.

Wendy first gained recognition after winning awards in the Waverley Art Prize & the Royal Easter Show. In recent years her work has explored darkness, confronting violence against women. In 2024 Wendy began creating works honouring the memory of her great-aunt Sarah Chaya Krikst, murdered during the pogroms in Lithuania (1917-1921).

In 2025, Wendy painted love. Her exhibition, WOMEN, POGROMS, LOVE (Oct–Nov 2025), echoed Leonard Cohen’s words:
“I greet you from the other side of sorrow and despair, with a love so vast and shattered it will reach you everywhere.”
